Step Well

Ahmedabad 2016

Experimentation in motion and beauty through long-exposure photography and atmospheric sound.

Role: Artistic Collaborator

In the village of Adalaj outside of India’s good fabrication and design capital, Ahmedabad, is one of India’s famous step wells. The complex architecture, echo-rich atmosphere, and busy tourism of the Adalaj Step Well is hard to capture, but this web experiment tries to convey the constant movement, curious joy, and ambient noise of the people moving through this 500-year-old monument to the rain by mixing long-exposure photography with atmospheric audio recorded during a visit to the site in February, 2016.

The experience can be viewed in a browser, and the code can be found on github.
